After 3years of no music- allegedly due to vocal damage- SZA is back with another R&B hit, literally! Her new single, “Hit Different” ft Ty Dolla, dropped September 4th and has her fans in awe.

On May 30th, 2018, Rolling Stone reported, “ SZA Returns to Tour Despite Vocal Damage...” According to SZA’s label, Top Dawg, it was said “...her vocal chords are swollen and she [has] to rest her voice to prevent permanent damage.” In conclusion, she missed the Arizona dam New Mexico tour dates that year.

SZA’s 1st album, “CTRL”, was released in June of 2017 and fans had yet to hear any new music until now. Her single, “Hit Different” ft Ty Dolla has been causing an uproar an multiple social platforms. This song definitely ties in with her previous feminist type vibes and it describes an uncanny relationship width an inconsistent guy. She voices how she knows he’s not good for her all while seeing pieces of herself hence the lyrics “...mirrors inside me they recognize you...”

The video brings the story to life with old school TLC and Aaliyah type of mood from the rough and sexy look to the blood covered rebirth. It then merges into another single “Good Days” symbolizing the calm afternoon the storm.

“Hit Different” is raw and relatable on many levels for many people young and old who have been in her shoes with a significant other. She blessed her fans yet again with more music for the soul. Oh, let’s not forget Ty Dolla’s, coming back from a long run as well, on the chorus with his smooth and subtle tone tying in with SZA to create the perfect setting. Yes it definitely hits different.
